Suzanne - The First Witch

Trilogy

Suzanne, the first witch. She lived with her daughter, Deborah, in a Highland Village in Donnelaith, Scotland.
Suzanne was the fairest in the village and was the May Queen the year she conceived, so the town folk saw Deborah as a merry-begot, a child of the gods.
Suzanne was a midwife and well famed for her ability to heal and cure.
A witch judge passing through the village went to Suzanne for a cut he had on his hand and then stayed the night. He told her to be careful of evil and showed her a book of black magic, 'Demonolgie' and read it to her as she could not read.
He taught her the things witches had done and could do while constantly warning her to be careful, "lest the devil tempt you, for the devil loves the midwife and the cunning woman."
Years later, with Deborah at her side, she went out into a field and called up a spirit, calling him 'Lasher' by name.
Lasher brought her gold, told her secrets of treachery and he sought out to punish those who wronged against her.
Suzanne quarrelled with a milkmaid and cursed her. Lasher took it upon himself to rain hail upon the milkmaid.
Suzanne's lack of control over Lasher, allowed all to see her magic which eventually lead her to be burnt at the stake.
