'We Watch'

'And We Are Always Here'

London - Amsterdam - Rome

The Talamasca demand complete obedience, loyalty and devotion from their members.

Aaron Lightner, David Talbot and Jesse are or were known members of the Talamasca.

‘Talamasca’, derived from a Latin word meaning, ‘Animal Mask’, and also a word once used to denote witches and shamons.

Anne came across the word when reading about witchcraft in a book by, ‘Jeffery Burton Russell’. She thought the word was so beautiful that she decided to use it for the organisation (Talamasca), inspired from English psychic research societies from the nineteenth century she had read about.

The ‘Talamasca’ was introduced into the ‘Chronicles’ through Jesse, Maharet’s mortal descendant. Jesse possessed extraordinary psychic abilities, which allowed her to enter the order as an apprentice. Here she found the organisation had a lot of history and information on the ‘Great Family’, that Jesse knew herself to be a descendant of, from Maharet. This is also where Jesse learned of the existence of Vampires, which lead her to find about her familys vampiric connection and eventually, leading her to her own vampiric existence.

According to David Talbot, the Talamasca's once Superior General, the organisation came into existence in A.D. 758, to study vampires. Shrouded in mystery and with a motto of, 'We Watch. And We Are Always Here', it requires of its members, confidentiality, honesty, loyalty and obedience, even though belief in the supernatural is not necessary.

The purpose of the Talamasca, is to document any manisfestation of phenomena that is seemingly out of natural order. They have over centuries, gathered records on witch families, the witch trials of the Dark Ages, hauntings, sorcery, werewolves and vampires.

They also collect, 'Vampire Refuse', the possessions that vampires leave behind, with records also dating back to the Dark Ages of vampire anatomy and its limitations. They desire a vampire tissue to study as they feel it will solve many mysteries and of course, complete their vast collection. They have a vast wealth in antiquities, art, gold, jewels, manuscripts and property.

The Talamasca has 'Motherhouses' in many major cities for the comfort, protection and security of its members. The Motherhouses all contain underground vaults and many rooms full of records and artifacts. Most of the information and artifacts collected on and about the vampires are kept in the Motherhouse in London.
